Reminiscence



REMINISCENCE



Nick Bannister (Hugh Jackman) is a PI who uses mind reminiscence to help people solve problems or mysteries. Things change for him when Mae (Rebecca Ferguson) walks through his door. Which opens up a big mystery for Nick.

Positives:
All centers around the actors:
Jackman and Ferguson, just like in The Greatest Showman, have great chemistry.
Thandiwe Newton as Emily become our eyes and ears, as she lurks in the background. Her character is the brains of the operation pretty much. Think about this, has Newton ever given a bad performance? Here she is strong again.
The look of this film is fantastic. Dark; wet; almost steamy. You almost feel it coming off the screen.

Problem, and a big problem, I guess this sits at the feet of screenwriter/Director Lisas Joy. An interesting idea just lays there. This 2 hour film feels like 3 hours. I think she got so involved in pushing the look and feel, the story fell by the wayside. The film starts strong and ends strong, but in the middle I was just bored.

2 stars out of 5 for Reminiscence. I was disappointed.
