Call Me By Your Name...
So many problems and the biggest are the two main characters.
Oliver played by Armie Hammer is just creepy. Not enjoyable to watch. He stalks a 17 year old. Yes it is not illegal there...but still creepy.
Elio played by Timothee Chalamet, is just annoying. I don't get what the director Guadagnino wanted us to think at the end....Elio was crying and sad his relationship was over with Oliver...but in reality he did the same thing to Marzia (Esther Garrel),. What goes around...he left a very nice person behind for this old guy. They tried to make it look okay by having him shake hands with Marzia and say "Friends". No...what you did was wrong, you blew her off and you did not apologize.

So two unlikable leads....
Then you have just awful camera work. How can this film get a nomination with this camera work? It looks like a high school student shot this. The camera sits on a stair step for 30 seconds for no reason, maybe to separate scenes, it was annoying. The camera is often annoyingly shaky. There is awful use of shadows and light, trying to make it feel artsy, but often I just thought, what is going on. The most annoying ...while the credits are rolling we see Elio staring into a fire crying. It goes on and on and on...soooo pretentious. You can almost hear the director say...."This will be so deep". AAAAHH NO!
Then you have too long of a story. This story is so simple. Did you really need 2 hours and 15 minutes? It is boring, and the length makes you feel exhausted because nothing is happening!!!
The two leads do not even have interesting conversations. Think of Linklater's Before Series., nothing happened but their conversations made the film work.

Enough, I will stop. I just cannot believe this got an Oscar Nod.

Is there anything good?
-I like that it is at a time and place, 1993, there are no cell phones and televisions. They have to read books lol. Plus socialize in person!!!
-I liked the area they were in, Northern Italy.
-Michael Stuhlbarg as Mr Perlman is great. He gives a fantastic speech at the end of the movie. Great performance.

2 stars (mainly for the area, and time period, and Stuhlberg) out of 5 for Call me by Your Name.
Disappointing. Big Sick and Battle of The Sexes were not nominated and this was?
The peach scene is necessary???!! Yes he has sex with a peach. I will stop.

From the shadows as always thanks for your time
