It is that time!!!
Where Hollywood elite get together and make fun of the president (and the ratings drop because we can here that any day of the week, we want entertainment).
Where they try to let us know how smart they are (settle down I am sure some of them are smart but lets be honest they pretend for a living).
And kiss Meryl Streep's ass...because if they don't they will not be in the club...See ...Ricki And The Flash...I rest my case.
Awards shows use to be fun...now they are just people who don't shut up to get people to like them in their industry
Well here is my guide for the night!!!!
Best motion picture — drama
Dunkirk
The Post
The Shape of Water
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Call Me By Your Name
Well it is hard for me to pick because they are holding back a couple of these films.
But since it is the Hollywood Foreign Press:
WILL WIN-----The Post (Hollywood press wants to make a statement about the importance of the press. )
SHOULD WIN----Dunkirk (However will not be in my top ten of the year. Beautiful movie. No character development at all)
Best motion picture — musical or comedy
The Disaster Artist
Get Out
The Greatest Showman
I, Tonya
Lady Bird
This is a good battle. I think 4 out of the 5 have a chance.
WILL WIN: Lady Bird. Deserves the win.
SHOULD WIN: Get Out. It is so different. However a comedy?
Best performance by an actress in a motion picture — drama
Jessica Chastain (Molly's Game)
Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water)
Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)
Meryl Streep (The Post)
Michelle Williams (All The Money In The World)
This is a battle!!! Again 4 out of 5 of these actors have a good shot.
WILL WIN: Frances McDormand. She deserves the win.
SHOULD WIN: Jessica Chastain. A great performance.
Best performance by an actor in a motion picture — drama
Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name)
Daniel Day-Lewis (Phantom Thread)
Tom Hanks (The Post)
Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour)
Denzel Washington (Roman J. Israel, Esq.)
It is a two horse race. Day-Lewis only because it is his last film.
WILL WIN: Gary Oldman
SHOULD WIN: Gary Oldman. This should not be close, to be honest.
Best performance by an actress in a motion picture — musical or comedy
Judi Dench (Victoria & Abdul)
Helen Mirren (The Leisure Seeker)
Margot Robbie (I, Tonya)
Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird)
Emma Stone (Battle of the Sexes)
Again, the comedy tag is questionable but I will go with it.
This is real tough because three of these could win and should win.
WILL WIN: Saoirse Ronan. She is real good and carries the whole film.
SHOULD WIN: Saoirse Ronan. I would go 1-Ronan 2-Stone 3-Robbie.
Best performance by an actor in a motion picture — musical or comedy
Steve Carell (Battle of the Sexes)
Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver)
James Franco (The Disaster Artist)
Hugh Jackman (The Greatest Showman)
Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out)
Another close race.
WILL WIN: James Franco in an upset. He is funny.
SHOULD WIN: Daniel Kaluuya. He is sooo under rated in the film. He carries this..with facial expressions often.
Best performance by an actress in a supporting role in any motion picture
Hong Chau (Downsizing)
Allison Janney (I, Tonya)
Laurie Metcalf (Lady Bird)
Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water)
Mary J. Blige (Mudbound)
WILL WIN: Laura Metcalf. I think she could win because Lady Bird had better reviews than Downsizing.
SHOULD WIN: Hong Chau. She steals Downsizing from the bigger stars.
Best performance by an actor in a supporting role in any motion picture
Willem Dafoe (The Florida Project)
Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name)
Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water)
Christopher Plummer (All The Money In The World)
Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Where is Idris Elba!!!!! WTH!!!!!!!
Why is Armie Hammer supporting?????
WILLWIN: Armie Hammer. Hollywood Foreign Press wants to tell the world they are progressive.
SHOULD WIN: Sam Rockwell. He is a scene stealer in this film. However, Rockwell is always great.
Best director — motion picture
Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water)
Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)
Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk)
Ridley Scott (All The Money In The World)
Steven Spielberg (The Post)
WILL WIN: Christopher Nolan Squeaking past Spielberg.
SHOULD WIN: Christopher Nolan. It is a beautiful piece of work.
Best screenplay — motion picture
Guillermo del Toro, Vanessa Taylor (The Shape of Water)
Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird)
Liz Hannah, Josh Singer (The Post)
Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)
Aaron Sorkin (Molly's Game)
WILL WIN: Liz Hannah and Josh Singer for The Post. Again a statement win.
SHOULD WIN: Gretta Gerwig. Okay my blinders are on I love her. But she deserves a win I insist!!
LOL!!!!!!
Best original score — motion picture
Carter Burwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)
Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water)
Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread)
John Williams (The Post)
Hans Zimmer (Dunkirk)
WILL WIN: Hans Zimmer
SHOULD WIN: Hans Zimmer. Dunkirk is a silent movie pretty much. The wonderful score was real important.
Best original song — motion picture
"Home" (Ferdinand)
"Mighty River" (Mudbound)
"Remember Me" (Coco)
"The Star" (The Star)
"This Is Me" (The Greatest Showman)
WILL WIN: Remember Me- Coco. Again...I will not say it again.
SHOULD WIN: This Is Me -The Greatest Showman. Is so relevant to the movie.
Best motion picture — animated
The Breadwinner
Coco
Ferdinand
Loving Vincent
The Boss Baby
You know it is a weak year in animated films when Boss Baby gets a nomination
WILL WIN: Coco
SHOULD WIN: Coco. I was not a fan of the story but it was beautiful looking.
Well I hear there are TV awards. I have to figure out what that TV thing is.
If you are watching the political show...ahhhh entertainment show (Seth Myers??? Really???) enjoy.
