SPOILERS AHEAD...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
This may open your eye to some things you missed or did not understand.
Anna singing here somethings never change...well this film is furthest from that song.
In fact what Anna does not know is Elsa is struggling secretly with inner turmoil (Into the unknown). First Elsa resists the song she hears from a distance, (By the way the noise is sung beautifully by the singer Aurora) then knowing...somehow deep inside'''' answering the call she only hears will put many in her kingdom at risk. The voice pulls her because, as we later find out the voice knows her. The voice understands her true destiny, not to be queen of Arendelle but to be something else.
Lets face it in Arendelle Elsa cannot find her place. She looks uptight, even doing frozen characters for children is odd for someone with her powers. She is more.
So she wakes up the powers of Earth...wind...fire and water. However she disrupts Arendelle while doing this, thus sending her on a quest with Anna; Olaf; Kristoff; and Sven in search of answers to the past and future.
As they finally enter the Enchanted Forest they meet a group of Arendelle Soldiers and Northuldra people who were trapped inside when the spirits were angered long ago. But why?
It only takes a couple of minutes for them to learn a bit of history, that when her father was young...he was saved by a young woman during the battle in the forest. They discover not only is her mother the young girl who saved her father but she is also also has a connection to Ahtohallan.
As they move on they discover her parents ship. As you see above by looking at the maps and notes they also discover that their parents were traveling to Ahtohallan to try and discover the basis of Elsa's powers.
If you remember the lullaby that their mother sang to them in the beginning...by the way Evan Rachel Wood is wonderful here:
This actually has secret messages to Elsa. Literally telling her information:
"ALL IS FOUND WHERE THE NORTH WIND MEETS THE SEA, THERE'S A RIVER FULL OF MEMORY"
So Elsa on her own has to cross the Dark Sea to find that river from the lullaby.
Do not ignore that Water Horse. That looks like a battle...but it actually is a test for Elsa. A challenge to prove herself worthy. She rides it to Ahtohallan, Back to the lullaby:
"COME MY DARLING HOMEWARD BOUND".
This is where people get even more confused....
At Ahtohallan is where Elsa's transformation occurs. Where she sings Show Yourself...
She becomes overjoyed at finding the place she truly belongs. Her hair is no longer constrained.
She sees images of her mother who then sings back to Elsa...Back to that lullaby:
"AHTOHALLAN WILL SING TO THOSE WHO HEAR AND IN HER SONG ALL MAGIC FLOWS".
As she goes deeper into the glacier she finds the symbols of the 4 spirits ...fire; water; land; and fire. In the middle a star forms. The same star on her mothers scarf.or wrap The fifth spirit, which is a union of all four. This is Elsa's moment, it goes back to the original Frozen when she stomped her foot when she was on North Mountain and realized the strength of her power and created an ice palace. Just like at the Ice Palace when she was transformed into a blue dress; here she is now in a white flowing dress as the fifth spirit. It is an amazing moment for Elsa is realizing who she is and what she is to be, with additional stronger powers. Yet she is not invincible.
As Elsa travels deeper and deeper she gets colder and colder as she discovers more about the past including her grandfathers betrayal of the Northuldra. She literally freezes up as she discovers the awful truth...I guess cold does bother her any way. Back to that damn lullaby:
"DIVE DOWN DEEP INTO HER SOUND BUT NOT TOO FAR OR YOU WILL BE DROWNED".
Fortunately as explained earlier the 5th spirit is a bridge between two worlds. To prove this, Elsa right before freezing, sends a ray of magic to Anna about the Grandfather. This is where Anna knows what she has to do fix the wrongs against the Northuldra. Which leads to the song, The Next Right Thing. Which gets said up to that point of the film often by many people to Anna, Almost as a reminder to Anna to just do the next right thing if she gets overwhelmed. Just one step at a time....
With help from the Earth Giants she destroys the dam, which lifts the curse the spirits had put on the Enchanted Forest and frees Elsa.. In the end both Elsa and Anna were needed to break the curse as stated there are two sides to every bridge...their mother had two daughters.
But lets flash back to the very beginning of the film...it told you what would happen:here...Little Anna and Elsa were playing in the castle with an Iced over Enchanted Forest. At the end of the game Elsa has the Fairy Queen toy break the spell, saving everyone!! Anna adds they got married. However you may associate Elsa as the fairy queen but it in reality that queen is Anna using her sisters powers to overcome obstacles.. SEE I TOLD YOU I WOULD OPEN YOUR EYES HERE.
With Elsa's powers now unleashed you see the strength of her powers now as the 5th spirit as she saves Arendelle. With this new Elsa, she makes the decision to have Anna rule as queen and she will stay in the Forest as the fifth spirit. If you were paying attention, this may come as no surprise. Anna is the one who took over after the four powers kind of sent many problems to Arendelle. She is the one who is out and about talking to the people. She is the one who displayed leadership and told the troll leader what to look out for, and to watch over the people; "Please make sure they stay out of the kingdom until they return", while Elsa watched. This is not taking anything from Elsa, Anna is just more suited for the kingdom and its constraints. While Elsa can over see the forest and for the first time feel free, and not constrained or ashamed of her powers. She belonged out in nature. This Anna Queen of Arendelle will do the next right thing...one small step at a time.
Well there you go...I explained Frozen 2!!!!

Wanted to throw a small touching note in here......In the Enchanted Forest we meet Ryder who loves reindeer as much as Kristoff. That name was not picked out of the air it was the name of Chris Buck's, the director, son who died in a car accident in 2013. He chose that name himself so his son would live on in some way.
