Celebrating 20 Years!!!! It will finally be released on Blu/Ray next week...so this week recommended is a revisit...fun and not so fun facts and where are they now!!

Some fun and not so fun facts!!!!
- In preparation for her role, Kelly McGillis lived with an actual Amish widow and her seven children for a period of time before filming began to get the speech down and to observe the daily life of an Amish mother.
- Harrison Ford joined the Philadelphia Police Department in preparation for the movie. He even joined them on a number of raids.
-Since the Amish community declined to be in the film, a lot of the extras were played by Mennonites.
-Sylvester Stallone was an early choice for the role of John Book. When he turned down the role, he said it was one of the worst decisions of his career.
-An actual barn was built as a result of the shooting of the barn-raising scene, but it was torn-down shortly afterwards
-The final scene between John and Rachel was originally written with 10 pages worth of dialogue. But Harrison Ford became ill and it had to be thrown out.
-Viggo Mortensen's feature film debut.

Harrison Ford ...John Book: He flies his plane on to golf courses and is going to star in a small film called Star Wars The Force Awakens.
Kelly McGillis...Rachel: She lays low these days doing spot acting roles on TV like on Z Nation and the L Word. She is a counselor helping those with drug addictions.
Lukas Haas....Samuel: He is a child actor survivor...He has been in three Oscar nominated movie Witness; Inception; and Lincoln. He will star in the Dicaprio film The Revenant coming in December.
Josef Sommer...Schaefer: He is a working actor. He has done a lot of TV spots for shows like Law And Order. He was also in one of the Xmen films.
Jan Rubes....Eli; He was a founding member of the Canadian Opera Company. He passed away in Canada in 2009 at the age of 89.
Alexander Godunov....Daniel: Also known for his role in Die Hard. A great Russian Ballet Dancer who defected to America in 1979. He mysteriously died of natural cause in 1995 later determined as Hepatitis at the age of 45 in Hollywood.
Danny Glover....McFee: Of course known more for the Lethal Weapon Series. Was in a short lived series called Touch.
Brent Jennings....Carter: By the way an underrated performance in Witness. Book left him behind!! Dammit!! He is a working actor, mostly TV work. He most recently worked on Suburgatory and Veep.
Well, again, Witness comes out on Blu Ray for the first time next week. It is a 5 star film. It is a little dated but it still works. You almost forget how great the screenplay was
