A Monday Recommended: Pixar 25 Years Later!!! My Top 5 Pixar Films.

Image result for pixar 25 years

It started with a lamp and a ball and a short film (And shockingly The PIXAR Computer Company. Yes it was a computer company). Who would have believed what would become of this studio. 15 Academy Awards. 11 Grammy Awards. It eventually was swallowed up by Disney, but in the agreement, PIXAR worked as an almost separate entity, with John Lassiter head of PIXAR now becoming head of Disney Animation Studios. Of course there is more to the story, I just do not want to bore you. Bottom line...The Rest Is History!
Now my top 5 PIXAR films...is like picking your favorite Chocolate...I mean it is chocolate.....it is all good.

Number 5

One of the problems this film has is its first 5 minutes. It's first 5 minutes is soooo good that the rest of the film has to fight to keep the story at that level. At least in Toy Story 3 the best 5 minutes came at the end, so the film does not have to fight that level of perfection (The beginning of Up, the end of Toy Story 3, and the breaking down of Riley in Inside Out the best three scenes in PIXAR films}. Still it is a great story filled with humor, DUG, and sadness. Love it. Squirrel!!!
Fun Facts:
At the end of the film Carl and Russell are sitting on the curb counting red and blue cars. Dug calls one as "gray" which is correct since dogs cannot see color.
When Carl and Ellie go picnicking, their destination is a spot under the same tree from A Bug's Life.

It is pretty much a silent film. It is a strange love story. The first time I watched this, I thought it was just a little better than okay. It just became one of those strange movies that gets better every time you watch it. Also, take note Tomorrow Land, this is how you quietly show what can happen if you don't take care of your world without a half hour lecture. Good story, and beautiful looking.
Fun Facts:
The first Pixar film to be nominated for 6 Academy Awards.
Elissa Knight, who provides the voice of EVE is not an actress, but an employee of Pixar.

Number 3

Yes it gets a little wacky up at the end but then it recovers in the last, great 5 minutes. It may be one if not the best written PIXAR films. What makes it special is that it seems to be meant for 10 and ups...any younger may not get it. The film also an important subject with out slamming it over your head.
Fun Facts:
When Joy and Sadness are passing through Imagination Land, a board game called "Find Me" with a cartoon Nemo on it can be seen.
This film marks the fifteenth time John Ratzenberger has made an appearance in a Pixar film, and a second time as a construction worker. He also voiced a construction worker in Up.

Number 2

I mean, it is the original. Has to be in my top 5. The characters were awesome. The look (Though looking back you can see the computer animation is slightly dated, watch the movements), is like nothing we have seen before in the theater. The story is filled with nostalgia and humor and friendship, it just works. If Toy Story failed....it would have been sad, because after 25 years we can now see what we would have missed on the big screen.
Fun Facts:
Billy Crystal was originally offered the chance to voice Buzz Lightyear, but declined. After seeing the finished film, he said the decision was the biggest mistake of his career. Of course later he was in Monsters Inc..
This was the first animated film in Oscar history to be nominated for a Best Screenplay Academy Award - Adapted or Original.

NUMBER 1!!!!

It is the perfect film. Filled with love and sadness and humor. The look is fantastic. The characters are great from Crush and Dory in the seas, to Gill in the aquarium. Cleverly written with not one character wasted, every character is fleshed or finned out. It is perfect and it never gets old. I hope that Finding Dory is just as good.
Fun Facts:
The dentist's diploma is from Pixar University School of Dentistry.
Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story is on the floor of the waiting room.

From the shadows as always thanks for your time.
