DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT From Sing Street
The song is so cool and shall I say groovy
Should win..............
CANT STOP THE FEELING From Trolls
Come on the song is so catchy !!
Will win..............
HOW FAR I'll GO From Moana
The songs from LaLa Land will cancel each other out. So...Ugh... I do not like the song but voters will want Lin Manuel to get the EGOT. It will be the first of many awards this year to undeserved winners, winning based on reasons not related to the actual award.
Best Animated Feature Film:
“Kubo and the Two Strings”
“Moana”
“My Life as a Zucchini”
“The Red Turtle”

CLINT EASTWOOD FOR SULLY
Again being a Republican in Hollywood had to hurt him. Politics again. Shame, he made a story that was well done and put us in the thick of it all.
Will Win And Should Win.....
He took a chance. A modern day musical. Beautiful to look at. Old yet new.
After last years Whiplash, and now LaLa he can do what he wants.
Best Supporting Actress:
Viola Davis, “Fences”
Naomie Harris, “Moonlight”
Nicole Kidman, “Lion”

Snubbed...............
TARAJI P HENSON HIDDEN FIGURES
She must have pissed someone off in Hollywood because she carries this film. Yet, she got no award season love. I do not get it.
Will win and should win.............
VIOLA DAVIS FENCES
I noted on my review for Fences, Viola Davis and Michelle Williams are on another level compared to all the other actresses out there. Here Viola's part is much bigger than Michelle's. So Viola is a clear winner.
Best Supporting Actor:
Mahershala Ali, “Moonlight”
Jeff Bridges, “Hell or High Water”
Lucas Hedges, “Manchester by the Sea”
Dev Patel, “Lion”
Michael Shannon, “Nocturnal Animals”

Michael Shannon, “Nocturnal Animals”
Snubbed..........
GEORGE MACKAY CAPTAIN FANTASTIC
I really thought he swept in and stole this film away from Mortensen. And I bet Mortensen would agree. His character Bo is a ball of emotions as he tries to get through to his father. Trust me he is great here.
Will win and should win.......
MAHERSHALA ALI MOONLIGHT
There are big names in this category but oddly it is a weak performance field.
I felt like I have seen Bridges and Shannon play the parts before. Patel was barely in it. Lucas Hedge I did not like. So It is Ali. He was really good. So good I felt when he was off screen the film died a slow death.
Best Actress:
Isabelle Huppert, “Elle”
Ruth Negga, “Loving”
Natalie Portman, “Jackie”
Emma Stone, “La La Land”
Meryl Streep, “Florence Foster Jenkins

HAILEE STEINFELD EDGE OF SEVENTEEN
Honored with a Nomination for the Globes but ignored here. She is wonderful, playing off the roller coaster emotions of a teenager.
Should and will win........
EMMA STONE LALA LAND
Definitely should win. I think she will win. Surprisingly I think her biggest challenge will be Meryl Streep. Just politics like noted before. Her speech at the Globes knocked out Amy Adams I think. So Streep is dangerous here. It will be close but I lean toward
Best Actor:
Casey Affleck, “Manchester by the Sea”
Andrew Garfield, “Hacksaw Ridge”
Ryan Gosling, “La La Land”
Viggo Mortensen, “Captain Fantastic”
Denzel Washington, “Fences”

JOHN GOODMAN 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE
Should win.................
ANDREW GARFIELD HACKSAW RIDGE
He is not very good at promoting himself because I do not see him out there like other nominees are. It is almost like he knows he will not win which is sad. I think compared to everyone else he gave far and above the best performance.
Will Win.....
DENZEL WASHINGTON FENCES
I keep mentioning politics. Affleck's behavior has caught up with him. Again politics. Washington will win because he is popular. He did give a good performance but not as good as Affleck or Garfield or Gosling. However he is a nice guy...sadly that should not matter but the Oscars this year is different.

EDGE OF SEVENTEEN
Not going to beat a dead horse. You know it is my number one movie of the year. Voters just forgot it.
Should win.........
LaLa Land
It is fun. It took a chance. It makes you cheer the leads on. It is beautiful. Sadly I think it will not will because it is so popular there is a backlash. People want to be artsy and vote small. I hope I am wrong.
Will Win..........
MOONLIGHT
I really liked it. I thought it died a slow death after Ali left the screen. In a Oscar year of politics and black lives matter.....Moonlight will win.
Well there are my picks as always thanks for your time and enjoy the show!!
