OUR BRAND IS CRISIS
Directed by David Gordon Green
Screenplay by Peter Straugham
Based on the Doc by Rachel Boynton
Starring: Sandra Bullock; Billy Bob Thornton; Anthony Mackie; and Juaquim De Almeida
An American woman, Jane (Bullock) well-versed in political campaigns, is sent to the war-torn lands of South America to help install a new leader (De Almeida) but is threatened to be thwarted by a long-term rival (Thornton).
This film is not good. In fact it borderlines on real bad.
The script is boring. The cast almost looks bored as they seem to move slow, almost sleep walking through the scenes. Yes it is boring but also...I did not care. I did not care about anyone in this film. Plus, watching a campaign? I can watch that on TV. I try to avoid doing that!!! Politics can be dirty and I know that. I don't care enough to watch it on the big screen.
Now the end. No spoilers here. However we already know politicians who make promises on the campaign trail, often cannot fulfill those promises. I think we are suppose to think that Bullock's character has an epiphany after seeing certain things. I again did not care.
Positives? Bullock is good. Zoe Kazan as LeBlanc is great and I wish the movie was about her playing a political almost dirt digger.
Well it is a contender for one of the worse films of the year. 11/2 stars out of 5 you may even want to pass it by when it comes to home viewing.
BURNT
Directed by John Wells
Screenplay/Story by Steven Knight and Michael Kalesniko
Starring: Sienna Miller; Bradley Cooper; and Daniel Bruhl
Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) is a Chef who destroyed his career with drugs and diva behavior. He cleans up and returns to London, determined to redeem himself by spearheading a top restaurant that can gain three Michelin stars.
Well, this film is getting beat up a bit by critics. It is not that bad. It is almost a sports film in the kitchen.
It has some nice performances. Bradley Cooper playing against type is really good. Sienna Miller as Helene, a single mother who is also an up and coming chef, is fantastic. I wished she was on the screen more. Daniel Bruhl as Tony the owner of the, I guess, Restaurant/ Hotel that Adam is making his comeback at is also very good and plays off the wired Bradley Cooper's character very well.
So you have a very strong cast. Now for the plot/script.
It is hard to like Bradley Cooper here. He is nasty and wired all the time. Plus annoyingly cocky. I am no expert here but I am sure there are great chefs out there who do not constantly break plates and belittle the employees around him. There was really one nice scene with Bradley Cooper's Adam and Sienna Miller's daughter, I wish there was a lot more of that in this comeback/redemption story. The angry chef act is getting cliché in the cinema and on TV these days.
A couple last notes:
-Nice small performances in this film by Omar Sy (who shocks us in this film); Emma Thompson (her part could have been edited out but you do not edit out Emma); and Uma Thurman (With some real bad makeup).
- Alicia Vikander is in this film!! I noted in past blogs this is the year of Alicia. Lets see the films:
Burnt
Ex Machina
Testament Of Youth
The Man From U.N.C.L.E
The Danish Girl which has not been released in full yet but I hear it is her best performance.
Well 3 stars out of 5 for Burnt. It is not as bad as what critics are saying. To pay to see it at the theatre? That is your call. It is definitely worth a look when it reaches home viewing. It will for sure make you hungry!!
It is Wednesday and YAY OR NAY Trailers are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Settle down!!!
HAIL CAESAR
Release Date February 5 2016
A great cast and the Coen brothers!! The trailer was even funny and in typical Coen brother's films it looks like the jokes come quick...I am in ...YAY!!!
LOVE THE COOPERS
November 13 2015
I love the Family Stone (Is that the same house?!). Great cast including Diane Keaton! Still I did not laugh once during the trailer. I hope they did not think that kid was funny because I found him annoying. Still with that cast I will give it a slight YAY.
RACE
February 19 2016
With a February winter release. This could do well. I am excited by what I saw on the trailer. My concern is that they made this story on the cheap...it looks like a PBS biography which may not be good. I give the trailer a slight YAY!
PIXELS
Directed by Chris Columbus
Screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling
Starring Adam Sandler; Kevin James; Michelle Monaghan; and Peter Dinklage
When aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth in the form of the video games.
I did not do a review of this film when it came out in the summer. It was beat up by many across the country. I do not think it was as bad as what many reviewers say. Was it good? No. It was just okay.
The whole idea sounds fun and cool. Something went wrong here. I think the plot sounded good enough to draw in a fantastic director like Chris Columbus and stars such as Michelle Monaghan and Peter Dinklage. It looks like one of these situations where the screenwriters had a great idea, kind of modern and retro at the same time, however they had no where to go with the idea and it seems like it was thrown together with bad Special Effects.
Still there are some funny moments and maybe the special effects will not be as bad on the smaller screen. I do think for home viewing it can be a fun film to watch. 2 out of 5 stars. I just feel it could have been better in the right hands.
SOUTHPAW
Directed by Antoine Fuqua
Screenplay by Kurt Sutter
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal; Rachel McAdams; Oona Laurence; Forest Whitaker; and 50 Cent
Boxer Billy Hope (Gyllenhaal) turns to trainer Tick Willis (Whitaker) to help him get his life back on track after losing his wife (McAdams) in a tragic act of violence and his daughter (Laurence) to child protective services.
Well yes, reviews for this film were mixed. I can see why, the wonderful acting throws reviewers off a bit. The actors in this film (except 50 cent who is stiff as a board) are wonderfully cast and are all fantastic in their roles. Is Gyllenhaal's performance Oscar worthy? Yes!!! He is really good as an almost crazy/punch drunk Billy Hope. I also think Oona Laurence who plays Leila the daughter is fantastic and maybe, if the Academy remembers her role in January, she should get a strong look at for a nomination. Also Whitaker gives a possible Oscar worthy performance. And lastly Rachel McAdams in a small role is really good.
So we come now to the script. When McAdames dies (not a spoiler it is in the trailer) the film becomes very cliché. While McAdams is alive we get this interesting look at the behind the scenes life of a successful boxer. The pain, not only the physical pain we see of Billy Hope bleeding, and barely walking the next day, but also the pain and anguish it causes the family. However, like noted, when Maureen Hope dies, the story, which was interesting dies also. It becomes a boxing film we have seen before. The film breezes over some subjects that could be interesting. Like he loses all his money. How? He has an interesting relationship with his daughter and new trainer but it does not dig deep into the "Hows" and "Whys" that makes him change. There was something here but it fell apart.
3 1/2 stars out of 5 for Southpaw. It is worth a look for home viewing, mainly because of the performances.
THE GIFT
Directed and Screenplay by Joel Edgerton
Starring Jason Bateman; Rebecca Hall; and Joel Edgerton
A young married couple (Bateman and Hall) lives are thrown into a harrowing tailspin when they move back near Bateman's town that he grew up in, only then to meet an acquaintance from the husband's past who loves to drop off gifts at the doorstep of their new home.
Secrets. It is all about secrets. I think back to the musical Wicked where they take the Wizard Of Oz and spin it and what you thought you knew or see may not be what it appears. This is The Gift.
First we are introduced to the house. The new house. The realtor says..."Nice lighting". Well it is dark and shiny and open with glass walls ("People who live in glass houses should not throw stones"). The mood is set by that house. So Matthew Floyd Ferguson gets a shout out. He is the set director. The house maybe the main character in the film.
For those who did not see Parades End let me introduce you to Rebecca Hall. Though we all know Jason Bateman, Rebecca Hall is the star of this film. She makes it work. She knows something is happening. She has fear in her eyes. Knowledge in her eyes. Compassion in her eyes. Knowing in her eyes. Perfectly cast as the confused wife Robyn. You, as the viewer, are her. You are as confused as she is, but wanting to know more.
Jason Bateman. You go back to Juno and you remember he can be smarmy. In fact if you think about him in his comedies he usually plays the funny, dry, smarmy guy. So with that he is perfectly cast.
Joel Edgerton's Screenplay is perfectly toned. Filled with suspense. Keeps you on the edge until the crazy ending. He also stars in this film he directed as Gordo the man from the past who is kind but creepy. I do think this may have a shot at being a nominee for best original screenplay. It comes off a little bit as a stage play.
Negatives. Not sure if I liked the ending but it went there and it worked. I also think a little editing is needed, it did seem long at 110 minutes.
Still....what a story. Disturbing in many ways.
4 stars out of 5 for The Gift, well worth a look.
MAX
Directed by Boaz Yakin
Screenplay by Boaz Yakin and Sheldon Lettich
Starring: Lauren Graham; Thomas Haden Church; Josh Wiggins; Carlos
A dog, Max, that helped US Marines in Afghanistan returns to the U.S. and is adopted by his handler's family (mainly Justin played by Josh Wiggins) after suffering a traumatic experience.
Over 3000 dogs have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. 26 dogs and 25 handlers have died in the line of duty. Those numbers surprised me, so there is a story there to be told. Sadly this film only tells half the story.
The story of this dog is buried under a story about "gun running" into Mexico and some bad guys. The film comes across as a low budget TV film. However this cannot be on TV because it should not be PG, there is a lot of violence here with some dog fights, the film probably should be PG13. I just felt that the subject here did not need a plot added to it. I was interested in how this hero dog assimilates back to society. And how dogs can have Post Traumatic Stress and how is that handled. Sadly that is lost here. The script is just messy, with an odd story line and some strange cringe worthy lines. I was disappointed because I wanted to like it so much more because the subject has not been touched upon in film. Sad.
Well, there are some good moments to note:
All the actors do very well with the limited script including a very good newcomer Mia Xitlali as Justin's friend Carmen, she almost steals the movie. Also I have to note Carlos, the dog who plays Max is such a great actor!!
There is one nice scene I want to note, when fireworks are going off on 4th of July, it of course shakes Max up. Justin crawls up next to him and lays with him to keep him calm. I wanted more of that!!!
3 out of 5 stars for a just a little better than average movie. It may be worth a look for home viewing.
Well I would not normally recommend this but it is Halloween week, so in the spirit of the week (SEE WHAT I DID THERE, SO FRIGGING CLEVER!) I give you:
THE GALLOWS
Directed by Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing
Screenplay by Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing
Starring a bunch of young actors
20 years after a horrific accident during a small town school play, students at the school resurrect the failed show in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy - but soon discover that some things are better left alone.
No crap some things are better left alone!!
Well I wanted to find a scary film that is relatively new for home viewing and scary and this qualifies for both.
What works?
-Well all the actors are believable as high school students.
-It is funny, a high school is filled with voices and life, and when it is empty it is quite different. When I worked at a local high school I would come in at an obnoxious hour in the morning and just some of the lights were on in the gym and the hallways creating shadows. It did have a sort of creepy factor and this movie uses those shadows and the quiet real well. I always think darkness and shadows and not knowing makes a film scarier then the slasher films.
-An odd creepy ending
Problems?
-The script has many a hole in it. And as usual in these types of films the HS kids do things that are very stupid and so do the staff of the school (Who gave the okay for this school production?!). However in this type of film I kind of let the holes and poor decisions pass because it fulfilled its goal of scaring the @#$ out of me.
-The camera view did not make sense often, no spoilers here, but if you watch you will see.
Well anyway. Looking for a scary movie on Netflix to rent or pay per view you could do a lot worse than this. It is not a slasher film, bloody gory film. It will not be noted at Oscar time. It is just a new scary movie that kind of works. 3 out of 5 stars.
From the Gallows thanks for your time.

ROCK THE KASBAH
Directed by Barry Levinson
Screenplay by Mitch Glazer
Starring Bill Murray
A down-on-his-luck music manager discovers a teenage girl with an extraordinary voice while on a music tour in Afghanistan and takes her to Kabul to compete on the popular television show, Afghan Star.
This film has it's moments, however it is a mess. It has no direction, it is all over the place.
Zooey Deshanel is only in this film for 10 minutes!! 10 minutes and she is all over the trailer. WTH happens to her.....I have no idea. The shame of it is, Zooey and Murray have really good chemistry.
Kate Hudson is in this film and is beautiful and has a interesting part, but, I have no idea why she is in the movie. There is no need for her. The relationship between her and Murray is odd and uncomfortable.
Bruce Willis. Really Bruce? Why?
Bill Murray. Bill Murray is really good when the movie lets him be Bill Murray. I laughed out loud a couple times but then even Murray got bogged down by the script.
There is a alot going here. You have a clash of cultures. You have some kind of arms deal. You have a music show. You have a pretty girl who has nothing to do. You have Bill Murray being Bill Murray. Just a mess.
A real quick note...a young talent in this film Leem Lubany. I do not know if she does her own singing but she kind of steals every scene she is in.
2 out of 5 stars for Rock The Kasbah. May be worth a look when it reaches home viewing.
STEVE JOBS
Directed by Danny Boyle
Screenplay by Aaron Sorkin
Based on the book by Walter Isaacson
Starring Michael Fassbender; Kate Winslet; Seth Rogan; and Jeff Daniels
In this revealing film we explore the trials and triumphs of a modern day genius and maybe carnival barker, the late CEO of Apple inc. Steven Jobs (Michael Fassbender).
It is like a stage play, most of the film taking place behind the scenes right before three important product launches in 1984 The Macintosh; 1988 NEXT Cube; and 1998 the IMAC.
Fassbender is fantastic as Jobs, he takes Sorkin's rapid fire dialogue and never misses a beat even with many conversations going on at the same time, always looking confident. He is in every scene. He is a jerk. He is confident. His social skills are just way off. He is Steve Jobs!
Then you have Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman as Steve's right hand assistant and advisor. The only one who could tell him off. She is wonderful. Nervous and frustrated and almost caring and motherly.
Seth Rogan as Steve Wozniak, Steve's partner who is constantly being treated as an assistant, in reality he is the inventor. There is no doubt this is Rogans best performance ever.
Then we come to Jeff Daniels as John Sculley. Jeff Daniels could be one of this countries most underrated actors. Like in the film Martian he comes in here and just commands the screen as Job's mentor/father. He is an interesting actor, alongside his screen work, Daniels is the founder of The Purple Rose Theater Company in Chelsea, Michigan in the town where he lives. Then he pops in to films and TV roles and then leaves for a couple years then pops back in. He always seems to find good roles (ignoring dumb and dumber 2).
All of the above actors/actresses should easily get a an Oscar Nomination with Fassbender and Winslet becoming front runners at this early period in the Oscar race.
As for Boyle he made an interesting decision to have each part of the movie filmed differently. 1984 was filmed with 16mm. 1988 in 35 mm. 1998 in digital. You can clearly see the difference and it really works. It gives the film a great feel of time and place.
Sorkin, as noted before, gives his usual rapid fire dialog. Surprisingly the focus is not on Jobs and Apple, but his relationships with people close to him and mostly spotlighting on the relationship with his daughter Lisa. However, here is the problem that may take away the chance of this film getting an Oscar nod, the film is not true. Yes it is true that Jobs was a very difficult person, but 95% of this movie is false....including the final scene with his daughter that did not happen in 1998 but a year earlier. I do not know how fair it is to write real facts into a script and then use them all in a consolidated different time span, and almost selling it as being true. I guess it is up to you, the viewer to decide if that is right or wrong.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars for the wonderful performances highlighted by Fassbender bringing Jobs back to life.
Yes I know, Wednesday is YAY OR NAY TRAILERS day. However, it is Back To The Future Day!! I cannot ignore it!! So you will have to wait a week to for more trailers as I take you back to the future with fun and not so fun facts of all three films.
BACK TO THE FUTURE 1/1985
-The script was rejected 40 times before it was finally green-lit.
-The DeLorean was deliberately selected for its general appearance and gull wing doors, in order to make it plausible that people in 1955 would presume it to be an alien spacecraft. The production ultimately used three real DeLoreans
- Billy Zane makes his first on-screen appearance in this film as "Match", one of Biff's cronies.
BACK TO THE FUTURE 11/1989
-First film appearance by Elijah Wood. He plays one of the two video game boys that Marty speaks to in the diner near the start of the film.
-The ledge on the clock tower that Doc broke in Back to the Future is still broken in 2015.
-The tagline for Jaws 19 is "This time it's really, REALLY personal". On the marquee is the name of the director, "Max Spielberg", executive producer Steven Spielberg's son. Max was born in June of 1985, the same year the first film in the series was released.
BACK TO THE FUTURE 111/1990
- Filmed at the same time as Back to the Future Part II
-In Back to the Future, Doc tells Marty that he was inspired to create the flux capacitor after hitting his head on the bathroom sink while trying to hang a clock over his toilet. In Back to the Future Part III, when Doc freaks out after seeing Marty in his house and runs into the bathroom, you can just see the clock hanging above the toilet he slipped on.
-The clock for the Hill Valley Clock Tower can be seen in the background being unloaded from the train as Doc and Marty talk to the conductor about the train's speed.
Well here is to October 21st 2015!!!
From the shadows as always thanks for your time.
Only two releases to note his week, one was a huuuuuuge success. The other a slight disappointment.
JURASSIC WORLD
Directed by Colin Trevorrow Screenplay by Rick Jaffa; Amanda Silver; Colin Trevorrow; and Derek Connolly Starring: Chris Pratt;and Bryce Dallas Howard
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, the island now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years visitor rates are starting to decline, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor's interest, which backfires horribly.
This film was a very exciting summer film. Right when you hear the great score you buckle on in for edge of your seat excitement!! It flies by, with a good script and the special effects are incredible.
However it comes down to script and casting. Four people tackled the script and they did wonderful. Now,without a good cast being able to look as scared as what we are in the theatre this film can not work:
BRYCE HOWARD, is fantastic as the operator/manager of the park always nervous and seems a bit over her head.
CHRIS PRATT, (Boy is he on a roll) he plays kind of a dinosaur whisperer. He is believable as the everyman, throwing in his fantastic comic timing.
VINCENT D ONOFRIO, is our bad guy and played well. I really do not know if his storyline (Military) was really needed. I think it could have been cut out and the film would have been just fine with the angle of corporate greed and do not mess with science/nature!
JAKE JOHNSON(from New Girl), is our computer guy, funny and clever.
IRRFAN KAHN, How did they get him???!!! From India and one of the finest actors on the planet. I just wish he was on the screen more.
OMAR SY, fantastic as Pratt's right hand man.
LAUREN LAPKUS...I am in love with her. I cannot figure out why she is not a bigger star. Here she plays another IT person.
and then....
TY SIMPKINS, he plays Gray the little boy in peril part. A weak link for sure. I hate to be mean but he can not act. Ugh!!! All these great actors around him and ugh!!And it is such an important role. Kiernan Shipka from Mad Men??!! Kaitlyn Dever from The Spectacular Now??!! Chloe Moretz ...Hit Girl??!! Joey King from the Dark Knight??!! Joel Courtney from Super 8??!! Or my favorite young actress Elle Fanning??!! One of these youngsters had to be available!!!! It is such an important role, how could they miss so bad on this role??!!
Well off my pedestal I go. A fantastic, exciting film. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.I hope it transfers the excitement well from big screen to the small screen. Also after watching this film, Chris Pratt gets my vote as the new Indiana Jones for sure.
Now this is really important if you have children so important I am going all caps:
THIS FILM IS SHOCKINGLY VIOLENT!!!! STUNNINGLY SO. PEOPLE ARE GETTING RIPPED APART, AND WE ARE SEEING ANIMALS ALSO GETTING TORN APART. THIS FILM REALLY PUSHED THE PG13 LINE. I LOOKED AWAY OFTEN IN THE THEATRE!!! I REALLY DO THINK 13 MAY BE THE LINE. I SEE NIGHTMARES IN THE FUTURE FOR KIDS 12 OR MAYBE 11 AND UNDER. IF THEY LIKE DINOSAURS MAYBE WAIT UNTIL PIXARS DINOSAUR FILM COMES OUT IN DECEMBER.
PAPER TOWNS
Directed by Jake Schreier
Screenplay and book by John Green
Starring Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne
Adapted from the bestselling novel by author John Green, Paper Towns is a teenage story centering on Quentin (Wolff) and his beautiful/offbeat neighbor Margo (Delevingne), who loved mysteries so much she became one. After taking him on an all-night adventure through their hometown, Margo suddenly disappears - leaving behind cryptic clues for Quentin to decipher. The search leads Quentin and his friends on an adventure that is a little bit funny and also moving.
I did not read the book, so I went into the screening with out much knowledge of the plot.
The good:
Casting Delevingne and Wolff as the leads were perfect, with great chemistry. The friends on the road trip all with different personalities. Halston Sage (My favorite) as Lacey the understanding and kind friend of Margo. Justice Smith as Radar as the friend who has a girlfriend but is a bit embarrassed of his friends so he tries to keep the two worlds separate. And Austin Abrams as Ben the friend who wants to push the limits, however he is kind of clueless.
The film also had some small funny bits, that worked and some did not.
Well that is all the good, sadly, just casting and chemistry, and some humor.
Margo is the most interesting person in this movie and she is not on the screen that often. In fact the character development here is really lacking. I have to wonder if there was more to these characters in the book. The movie was about 109 minutes, why not make the film over 2 hours and give us some character development? I found Quentin boring, I did not really care about him and he was the lead! Margo, who I still cannot put my finger on whether she is mean and selfish (for leaving without a notice to anyone) or brave (for deciding to live a different life then others expect of her), is an interesting character but not in the movie very much. When she is not in the film, it dies. I could have had the movie twist around and just follow her travels. The film is billed as a road trip of high school friends, I did not see much of a road trip, maybe 15 minutes of the movie was the road trip . Was the road trip longer in the book? I don't know. The film was also booked as a coming of age story, I did not see that at all. Just an oh well, crap happens story. In fact I think The Duff from earlier in the year was a better coming of age film.
Damn!!! I wanted to really like this. It is just a paper town, with paper houses and paper streets and paper people. I would give it a little better than average maybe 3 1/2 out 5 stars. I understand the film is not for me but for teens, still, I did not read the book, and the book was popular and well received, so I imagine too much was left out. It is funny after that tough review I was thinking I would love to have the two leads meet up again in a future movie like 7 years later, ala the Before Sunset Series, and see what became of them (In hope Quentin became more interesting). There is a Margot story that can be told here.
Well as always from the shadows thanks for your time.
It started with a lamp and a ball and a short film (And shockingly The PIXAR Computer Company. Yes it was a computer company). Who would have believed what would become of this studio. 15 Academy Awards. 11 Grammy Awards. It eventually was swallowed up by Disney, but in the agreement, PIXAR worked as an almost separate entity, with John Lassiter head of PIXAR now becoming head of Disney Animation Studios. Of course there is more to the story, I just do not want to bore you. Bottom line...The Rest Is History!
Now my top 5 PIXAR films...is like picking your favorite Chocolate...I mean it is chocolate.....it is all good.
Number 5
One of the problems this film has is its first 5 minutes. It's first 5 minutes is soooo good that the rest of the film has to fight to keep the story at that level. At least in Toy Story 3 the best 5 minutes came at the end, so the film does not have to fight that level of perfection (The beginning of Up, the end of Toy Story 3, and the breaking down of Riley in Inside Out the best three scenes in PIXAR films}. Still it is a great story filled with humor, DUG, and sadness. Love it. Squirrel!!!
Fun Facts:
At the end of the film Carl and Russell are sitting on the curb counting red and blue cars. Dug calls one as "gray" which is correct since dogs cannot see color.
When Carl and Ellie go picnicking, their destination is a spot under the same tree from A Bug's Life.
Number 4
It is pretty much a silent film. It is a strange love story. The first time I watched this, I thought it was just a little better than okay. It just became one of those strange movies that gets better every time you watch it. Also, take note Tomorrow Land, this is how you quietly show what can happen if you don't take care of your world without a half hour lecture. Good story, and beautiful looking.
Fun Facts:
The first Pixar film to be nominated for 6 Academy Awards.
Elissa Knight, who provides the voice of EVE is not an actress, but an employee of Pixar.
Number 3
Yes it gets a little wacky up at the end but then it recovers in the last, great 5 minutes. It may be one if not the best written PIXAR films. What makes it special is that it seems to be meant for 10 and ups...any younger may not get it. The film also an important subject with out slamming it over your head.
Fun Facts:
When Joy and Sadness are passing through Imagination Land, a board game called "Find Me" with a cartoon Nemo on it can be seen.
This film marks the fifteenth time John Ratzenberger has made an appearance in a Pixar film, and a second time as a construction worker. He also voiced a construction worker in Up.
Number 2
I mean, it is the original. Has to be in my top 5. The characters were awesome. The look (Though looking back you can see the computer animation is slightly dated, watch the movements), is like nothing we have seen before in the theater. The story is filled with nostalgia and humor and friendship, it just works. If Toy Story failed....it would have been sad, because after 25 years we can now see what we would have missed on the big screen.
Fun Facts:
Billy Crystal was originally offered the chance to voice Buzz Lightyear, but declined. After seeing the finished film, he said the decision was the biggest mistake of his career. Of course later he was in Monsters Inc..
This was the first animated film in Oscar history to be nominated for a Best Screenplay Academy Award - Adapted or Original.
NUMBER 1!!!!
\
It is the perfect film. Filled with love and sadness and humor. The look is fantastic. The characters are great from Crush and Dory in the seas, to Gill in the aquarium. Cleverly written with not one character wasted, every character is fleshed or finned out. It is perfect and it never gets old. I hope that Finding Dory is just as good.
Fun Facts:
The dentist's diploma is from Pixar University School of Dentistry.
Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story is on the floor of the waiting room.
