Monday Recommended!! Let The Fire Burn.

Each Monday I recommend a film that may have passed you by. This week I picked I really good documentary:

LET THE FIRE BURN
Directed by Jason Osder

A history of the conflict of the City of Philadelphia and the Black Liberation organization, MOVE, that led to the disastrously violent final confrontation in 1985.

This Documentary was done real well. It shows all sides of the conflict.
Move: They pushed the boundaries of free speech by using megaphones to all hours of the night. Almost saying we dare you to do something about it.
Neighbors: who have to live, and listen 24 hours a day. Who really wanted MOVE to shut up and literally move. Their frustration with the city because they feel the city officials were not doing any thing about it. Then in the aftermath they seem to say we had no problems with MOVE.
City officials: You feel for them because their hands were tied. At the same time they made an awful decision.
Police: Felt like they were getting shot at. Their hands were tied and the police commissioner making the worst decision of all..to drop a bomb.
Fire department: Who really did not sign up for this...to fight a fire with the sound of bullets wizzing by. The commissioner then apparently making the shocking decision to let it burn.

As you watch you have to think the most shocking thing is that the cities in our country have not learned anything from this 1985 confrontation. No matter what side you are on...both sides need to find another way that does not include ruining the city they live in.

3 1/2 out of 5 for LET THE FIRE BURN. 3 1/2 only because I felt that the Doc could have used a little editing, it felt a little long, this is not saying it is not worth a look. It is available for streaming and rental through Netflix.

As always from the shadows thanks for your time
