I will start with THE SHADOW AWARD FOR BEST ACTOR OF 2019:
SAM ROCKWELL
He does not need to be the lead...he will still shine!!
As C.P. Ellis in Best Of Enemies he plays a man who slowly awakens to his bad behavior in the south.
As Watson Bryant in Richard Jewell he is fantastic as Jewell's lawyer who has to be tough and soft at the same time.
As sort of flamboyant Captain Klenzendorf Jojo Rabbit he is hilarious as the screw up of a German Captain.
Three wonderful performances in one year...making Sam Rockwell my 2019 Best Actor!!

FLORENCE PUGH
Florence Pugh became a big time star this year with three wonderful performances:
As a brunette playing Saraya Knight in the nice little surprise of a film Fighting With My Family, she has to not only act but show off her athletic ability.
As Dani in the creepy un-enjoyable Midsommar she steals the film.
Then she closed out the year giving us a different view of Amy in Little Women.
She was just outstanding this year..making Florence Pugh The Best Actress Of 2019!!
THE SHADOW FOR 2019 WORST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
ED SKREIN
Bad acting. Real bad, by Ed Skrein as Dick Best in the film Midway!! He had a real bad fake Jersey dialect. I cringed every single time I saw him/or heard him. He almost made me walk out of a theater which I only have done once...he was the lead so it was hard to avoid him. Not only the dialect but he was stiff as aboard. Just bad.

ROMAN GRIFFIN DAVIS
Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo in Jojo rabbit is in every scene, acting against an imaginary Hitler, and getting the dry humor. Then range of emotions that he has to go through as Jojo...he is perfect. The funny thing is he plays up against last years best newcomer Thomasin McKenzie, they are great together. There is a reason this kid got a Golden Globe Nomination.
THE SHADOW AWARD FOR THE SWEETEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR
Oh my ....the voice work by Kevin Costner as Enzo the dog is brilliant!!!
Seeing life through the eyes of a dog. Not for humor. Well often there is misunderstood humor by Enzo.
Some avoid this movie because of tears, well yes there are tears, but not for what you think.
It is life.
Reflections of life through the eyes of a dog. The sadness. The confusion. The enjoyment of small things or happenings. The drama that can surround a family. Plus the ability of dogs to feel something happening before people.
The screenplay by Mark Bomback (Based on the book by Garth Stein) is surprising lite. Very good performances by Milo Ventmiglia and always underrated Amanda Seyfried.
This is a sweet film with a nice ending....It is also about Love. Love Big!!

FROZEN 2
I was a little too hard on this film when it came out. I think because it was a bit odd. It was confusing and layered and once you cut through it all and its complexities it is very good. It is a mature story, I compare it to the Broadway Musical WICKED. It is odd because it is often too deep for children. As for story telling it took a chance going deep into who these two sisters are and where they fit into their world.
As for the look, I think it was the best looking animated film in years, the backgrounds, the colors are all just beautiful. Disney animation at its best. I mean look at the waterhorse. How it can be overlooked for an Oscar but a TV cartoon film Klaus was niominated we may never be able to figure out.

COLD PURSUIT
This movie starring Liam Neeson as Nels a snow plow driver who is looking for the people who killed his son. This film that came out in February, it has a Tarantino feel. With cartoonish violence and a bit of odd humor it worked.

In a world where everyone is PC and everyone is insulted by something, Hollywood comedies are rare. Then to make a good one in this PC world is rare. Enter Olivia Wilde's Booksmart. Often funny, often awkward, and often a bit crazy, throw it in a blender mix it up and it works. Fantastic leads with Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein who have great chemistry as best friends on the night before graduation just trying to find a party. People dissed this saying it is just another Superbad. AAAH NO...sexist much? This may have the same idea but it is from a totally different perspective. Funny and sweet all at the same time.

THE DEAD DON'T DIE
The trailer looked like it may be a zombie Wes Anderson type of film.
I mean Bill Murray!! I mean Adam Driver!
It was not funny. Strange in its editing. Even tried to break the fourth wall for humor but it made the film frustrating. Then throw in an ending where the stars die...for no reason but to die I guess, or that is what the script says. No shit...they talk about the script. Just disappointing.
The Dead Don't Die is the 2019 Biggest Disappointment.

BRADLEY COOPER
So lets see..just to name a few..
He starts out 2010 with a small part in Valentines Day and his character throws in a twist at the end.
Then in 2012 he teams up with Jennifer Lawrence as Pat in Silver Linings Playbook
He did a couple more Hangovers.
Then in 2013 he was great as Richie in American Hustle again with Jennifer Lawrence.
2014 he took on the role of hero Chris Kyle in American Sniper
I know Aloha was ripped by the critics but I liked him in Aloha
2015 he played Neil opposite Jennifer Lawrence again in Joy
In 2018 he played Agent Colin Bates hunting down Clint Eastwood in The Mule
Also in 2018 he did this little movie called A Star Is Born
All together 4 Oscar Nominations in the decade.
Then throw in all the Avengers and Guardians voice work as Rocket
This was easy. No one really came close. Now Female was more difficult...

Runner ups were:
Jennifer Lawrence, however she has not done much since 2015..maybe X-Men but...
Laura Dern and maybe Saoirse Ronan would be runner ups..great performances but they get edged out by the numbers that Emma Stone has put up:
In 2010 she started the decade with the cult film Easy A
In 2011 she had her first film opposite Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love in what may be one of the best scenes of the decade...the Dirty Dancing scene..well lets look at it...
In 2011 she was underrated as Skeeter in The Help
In 2012 she did her first Spiderman film playing Gwen Stacy
In 2013 she was in her second film with Ryan Gosling called Gangster Squad playing Grace
In 2014 she played in a pretty funny scene stealing role as Sophie in the Woody Allen film Magic In The Moonlight,
2016 again with Ryan Gosling singing and dancing this time as Mia in the wonderful LaLa Land in which she won an Oscar for.
In 2017 she was just great playing a soft role as Billy Jean King against the very loud Steve Carell. I think this role was sooooo underrated. She is great here.
In 2018 she in the conniving Abigail in The Favourite, which got her an Oscar Nomination
Then throw in a second Zombieland for fun in 2019.
I mean ,look at that work for the decade!!!
