Monday: DVD/Bluray/Streaming Recommended

Image result for about time

It is Monday recommended, in which I recommend a film that may have passed you by when it first came out.

About Time
Direction and Screenplay by Richard Curtis
Starring: Domhnall Gleeson; Rachel McAdams; Bill Nighy

When Tim (Gleeson) turns 21 his father (Nighy) informs him he can travel in time and change what happens and what has happened in his own life. He learns the proper way to use this power and also learn about life.

This film I think was marketed wrong. I really think the film is not as much about time travel, but it is about how we use our time.
The film is highlighted by many good performances:
Gleeson is fantastic. He is known for playing one of the Weasley brothers in the Harry Potter series. Here he often says so much without speaking. This is a good sneek peak for StarWars fans to see Gleeson, for he has a starring role in the new Star Wars film.
Nighy, is very good as a father, without an ego even though he has this power also. He is kind and loving.
McAdams is a little underutilized, but when she is on screen she lights it up.
There are two other roles that should be mentioned, Lydia Wilson as Kit Kat, Tim's sister. She does a wonderful job in a small part. Somehow, with a small part she still makes you worry about her.
Margot Robbie before she became, well Margot Robbie (Focus and Wolf Of Wall Street), as Kit Kat's friend. Just proves again Richard Curtis is a master of telling stories utilizing and getting the most from everyone on set ( see Love Actually, Bridget Jones, Notting Hill).

Yes, the film has some holes in it, and could have used a little editing, but as always Richard Curtis knows how to tell a story.  About Time is funny, sad at times, with an umbrella of love.

About Time is 4 1/2 stars out of 5. I think it is a lovely film, you should take a look.
Available for rent on Netflix. Move it to the top of your queue.

Well as always thanks for your time.
