While you are at it give one to this amazing newcomer Thomasin McKenzie..amazing here.

This movie stays with you. Sad. Heartfelt. Sweet.
Two people watching and caring over each other as they search for a place to be...or running from the real world.... or what is in Will's mind.

New Film Review: The Meg

I really like Jason Statham.So I was all in.
It delivers a lot of excitement which is what you want.
It just seems like it was a little off and I cant put my finger on it.
It may be the length. It was almost 2 hours long which seemed loooong.
Also it was not fun. These films are suppose to be over the top fun....and other than the dog scene...not so much (Though Rainn Wilson has some funny lines).
Action...yes and fun not so much.

Charming wonderful leads helps push this film through (Constance Wu and Henry Golding)
Lets face it...we have seen this story line on the Hallmark channel every weekend...see Royal Christmas per just one example.
I love a good Hallmark film so I am all in on this...and like Hallmark movies we always know how it is going to end.
However the problem with this film is it is 2 hours long...and trust me...it is an hour and 50 minutes of rich people treating an outsider like shit. Then in just 10 minutes things change. It is really tough to get to the last 10 minutes, I often wanted to scream..GIRL JUST RUN AWAY NOW!!!
Still the end delivered what everyone wants.

It is pretty much a Hallmark film on the big screen.
I am not a Hallmark movie snob...I like a good Hallmark film.
However after watching this you realize to appreciate the casting of a Hallmark film much more.
Every couple or future couple in this film have absolutely no chemistry. None. Zero. it is painful. Not even 2 really good actors Finn Wolfhard and the great Ron Cephas Jones....as a boy and a life teacher works.
Positives?
Well it has one of Americas great actors in Ron Cephas Jones!!
It also has Lauren Lapkus who I think is an underrated actress and she is barely used. I felt bad for her.

Now I know this was made for me.
I think...I am not sure...this is made for kids? Or maybe parents of younger kids.
I found it sweet and kind. Well acted by McGregor.
However I was totally confused.
Now from what I remember the creatures in the woods were part of Christopher's imagination, or playtime. At least from the films and books. Now here I think...they are real? What the...!!!!!!!!!
It made no sense to me. Again....maybe not made for me and I am overthinking.

New Film Review: Eighth Grade

Just so real it is uncomfortable. The film follows Kala as she tackles her last week as an eighth grader.
I loved the character Kala wonderfully played by Elsie Fisher. I think she gives an Oscar worthy performance.
Also a great performance byJosh Hamilton as Kala's father Mark.
Sadly two problems with the film....
There was not much of a story or development here...just a great idea that seems to just lay there. Maybe they needed more time. At just 90 minutes they should have added more to the script.
Still Elise Fisher keeps you watching.

The trailer for this film was bad, so I did not expect much.
I did laugh much more than I thought I would.
This film has many funny moments.
However, sadly the plot and storyline make no sense...almost like they edited the crap out of it. Yet still it feels long.
May be worth a look for home viewing.
